I’m an artist who does science.

In science, my research focuses on the mechanisms driving genome evolution in humans and viruses, with applications to theory and medicine. In music, I am the vocal half of pop-folk duo Ginger Rice. In all these pursuits I am indebted to my mentors, too numerous to name, who have taught me the true meaning of friendship.

I believe that what is important is to find out the truth. In the words of Steinbeck, “If it is right, it happens — the main thing is not to hurry. Nothing good gets away.”

I offer beginning lessons in singing, alto saxophone, and piano/theory in Taipei and Manhattan. Please send an email describing any prior training and your goals for study. Performance inquiries are also welcome. For more details, see my RESUMÉ.
